TheFullBug - BloodBath Animated Music Video (2019)
This was a really fun one! I was approached by the band to make this music video with not a lot of time, and I came up with a little plot for it.
The story is about a couple who crash-landed on a desolate planet consumed by plants and got separated. The main character is searching for her partner by tracking his life signs in her helmet. When she finally finds him, she realizes he has become the power source for these plants that have consumed the world and turned its population into zombies. It’s kind of like the idea from The Last of Us TV show, where the clickers are connected by a mycelial network, but in my story, it’s more like tree roots talking to each other.
Conveniently, she finds a sword after dispatching some zombies (thank you Mixamo for the motion capture files!) and discovers her partner has surrounded himself with a power field that kills anyone who touches it. She decides to take the leap and kill him to save the world, sacrificing herself in the process and resetting the planet to be habitable again.
Granted, it’s not the best plot in the world, but I still like it.
The way I made this video was also kind of interesting. I animated and rendered out the main character as a PNG sequence and essentially did what they do in anime by painting the backgrounds. Due to time constraints, I didn't have a lot of time to work on the backgrounds, hence them being dark. Then, I composited everything in After Effects.
