"If It Would Be"
started as a lighthearted idea that came to me during a 3D assets class I was teaching at Catalyst.
I was guiding the students on setting up and texturing scenes, and as they worked, this concept took shape in my mind.
Anyone connected to a program that requires rendering knows that we VFX and 3D artists live from render to render. So, as a tribute, I present to all you 3D artists out there, The Ballad of Loui, also known as "If It Would Be."
I created this piece from scratch in just three days (I challenged myself to stick to that limit, so there may be a few rough edges!). While editing the rendered shots, I struggled with writing the voice-over—until inspiration hit to make it a ballad, a rhyming narrative, and suddenly, the words flowed effortlessly!

If It Would Be
Seconds to minutes, then hours to days,
Adobe updates and software delays.
The render bar moved, but oh-so-slight,
As Loui sat loyal, day fading to night.

He waited and waited, but the time never came,
The blue bar crawled on, like his client’s late pay.
"And as the moment finally neared—just one second remaining,
A haunting voice echoed, Loui’s hope now waning.

Young Loui had dreams, so vivid and bright,
Explosions and spaceships—his name up in lights.
But sadly, poor Loui will never quite see,
How his render concluded… or if it would be
modeled and rendered from cinema4d,
textured with Substance painter and Color graded in Devinchi
I made the soundtrack as well!
